WFSU Public Media takes home 7 honors at the 2022 Florida Association of Broadcast Journalist AwardsWFSU Public Media received seven awards from the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists (FABJ) for the station’s outstanding work for the 2022 calendar year.

The program offers an up-close-and-personal introduction to each orchestral instrument, instrument family, and musicians of the orchestra (including conductor and electronics). WFSU worked with TSO to create videos around each topic.

Class of COVID-19, a collaborative work within the Florida Public Media system, has been recognized with a National Edward R. Murrow Award for Large Market Radio - Digital. The extensive digital build-out was led by WFSU's Patricia Moynihan and features engaging illustrations by Camila Kerwin and graphic design by Cassidy Alexander. The overall project was led by WLRN's Jessica Bakeman.

PBS NEWSHOUR will provide live coverage of the public hearings held by the “Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.” Watch past coverage via this post. The hearings will continue live online weekdays starting June 13.

WFSU’s Valerie Crowder took top prize for weather reporting, Patricia Moynihan for digital programming, and Robbie Gaffney for education reporting (single). More than 40 radio and television stations submitted more than 550 entries in the contest which featured content produced in 2021 by public and commercial news outlets from across Florida.

After 25 years leading Florida’s statewide open government channel, Beth Switzer retired from her role as Executive Director of The FLORIDA Channel earlier this year.
