An estimated 42,000 people attended last year's event and this year's participation appeared to exceed that, according to festival organizers.

Last year's festival brought an estimated 42,000 people to downtown Tallahassee over the 2-day event.

The exhibit's opening night will include a reception and an awards ceremony for the top artists.

This is the 26th year for the event, hosted by Lemoyne Arts.

Dozens of individual artists had exhibits at Saturday's opening.

This year's event will include an artists' showcase along with the multitude of hand-crafted ornaments and decorative creations that have been an event staple.

The exhibit will feature an outstanding collection of photographs.

The festival, which features a large mix of visual artists from the locality, region and across the country, has consistently been applauded by those artists.

In addition to the original musical, there will be a visual arts display at The Moon.

The giant art auction, which includes many dozens of multiple media creations, is the organization's single largest fundraiser.
