A new exhibit of art at Tallahassee State College focuses on the faces of Tallahassee's unhoused population. Tom Flanigan spoke with the artist, local painter Ann Kozeliski.
The artist, well known for her delicate brush work with Japanese inks, said she had committed to memory and then painted the faces of more than 50 people she had seen on Tallahassee's streets. Her goal was to show respect for each of her subjects.
"We see the dignity in the portraits of presidents and family members. And this is taking that element and putting it into that scenario."
She says the exhibit opening is Thursday, January 16th.
"From 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tallahassee State College Gallery of Fine Arts out by the Turner Auditorium. It runs through the 20th."
