It’s a big week for city government, as the Tallahassee City Commission returns from its summer break on Wednesday and the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency resumes a controversial discussion on Thursday.
At the commission’s request, city staff will explain the legal process by which a city charter may be amended in Florida…and give a brief history of how the process has unfolded in Tallahassee. The potential schedule for such a review would allow for Tallahassee citizens to vote on the proposal in November 2024.
Meanwhile, the Blueprint board – composed of the city and Leon County commissioners – will return to the question of the proposed Northeast Park. County Commissioner Brian Welch, who represents that district, is pushing for the park to come in at Blueprint’s original $18 million cost. But other members of the board want to cut back the park’s amenities.
