Three bills that opponents say are part of an anti-LGBTQ agenda pushed by the GOP were passed Wednesday out of the House. Regan McCarthy reports one measure puts new rules in place about who can use what bathroom. Another punishes venues that allow kids into live adult performances, including many drag shows. And the third bans gender affirming care for transgender kids.
The Florida Board of Education has approved a new rule that says schools, quote: “Shall not intentionally provide classroom instruction to students in grades 4 through 12 on sexual orientation or gender identity unless such instruction is expressly required by state academic standards.” The rule extends an already existing ban on such instruction. Lynn Hatter reports, while the outcome of the rule was never in question, it generated a significant amount of both support and pushback.
