A bill codifying a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender kids got its first hearing in the Florida state legislature Monday. Regan McCarthy reports the measure comes as the Florida Board of Medicine's ban is set to take effect later this week. (March 16)

Lawmakers are quickly moving to make “age-inappropriate” instruction about sex against the law for essentially all public school students, certainly up to eighth grade, but possibly up to high school seniors. More from Tom Flanigan

Over warnings of potentially being unconstitutional and un-American, a Florida House committee has advanced a bill that would make it easier for journalists and their media outlets to be sued. Lynn Hatter reports, sponsors argue there needs to be a greater check on the press amid the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation. But bill critics say lawmakers have the wrong approach.

It’s been almost one year since 14-year-old Tyre (TY-ree) Sampson fell to his death from an amusement ride in Orlando. The FreeFall ride in Orlando’s busy tourist district was shut down the day after the accident – and is being taken apart starting this week. The teen’s death has spurred legislation designed to improve rider safety, as Gina Jordan reports.
