The Tallahassee City Commission is going with an internal hire to be the next city manager.
The commission voted 3-2 today to offer the job to Karen Jumonville, one of Tallahassee's assistant city managers, after presentations from three finalists for the position.
Commissioners Jack Porter and Jeremy Matlow opposed the vote, saying the process was rushed and could create instability if a new commission elected during the November elections wants a different candidate. The other commissioners say Jumonville’s more than 25 years with the City gives her the knowledge to do the job well as outgoing City Manager Reese Goad retires.
They will have final ratification of Jumonville’s hiring, including contract details, during the city commission meeting on Sept. 9.
