Erwin Jackson Suing Tallahassee City Commission Over Seat 1 Selection Process

Local businessman Erwin Jackson has filed a lawsuit against the Tallahassee City Commission over its selection process to fill Seat 1.

Jackson, who filed an ethics complaint against ousted Commissioner Scott Maddox, now says the Commission lacked transparency in narrowing the list of 90-plus applicants to a short list. His lawsuit asks that the process, and the candidate selected by the Commission, be thrown out.

We don’t know on what basis was this short list created,” Jackson said. “We don’t know why so many good people were rejected by the City Commission.”

The Commission named Elaine Bryant, a Florida A&M University graduate who has worked in numerous state agencies, as its selection on New Year’s Eve.
