Odell Haggins has been on Florida State’s coaching staff for years, dating back to 1993 when he joined the late Bobby Bowden following the Noles' 1993 national championship.
He’s been FSU’s interim head coach twice, their defensive tackles coach, and their associate head coach since 2014.
But on Thursday, FSU head coach Mike Norvell said Haggins will no longer be a defensive assistant coach.
"Odell Haggins is one of the great all-time Seminoles, and I'm excited as he transitions into his exclusive role of associate head coach," Norvell said.
After 31 years as a position coach at Florida State, Odell Haggins’ role with the FSU football staff is evolving for the 2025 season. He will retain his associate head coach title and focus on development, relationships and cohesiveness throughout the entire program

The 31-year-vet will keep his job as associate coach, meaning he will be second in command and fill in for Norvell when needed.
"He will continue to be an active member of our staff," said Norvell. Odell will play an integral part in maintaining the standard of play here at Florida State by pouring into the development and relationships with our players and the cohesiveness of our staff in this new leadership role."
Haggins has helped FSU post a 279-113-1 (.713) record with 14 ACC titles and two national championships in his time on staff. In recognition of his many accomplishments at Florida State, he was inducted into the Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2018.
The defensive line duties will be handed over to Tony White, FSU’s newly hired defensive coordinator as of Thursday.
