The Tallahassee airport is now offering a TSA PreCheck program to help qualified travelers get through the security line faster. To help kick start the new program the Tallahassee Airport will open a temporary PreCheck Enrollment Center next week.

At their Wednesday meeting, commissioners heard from David Pollard, director of the city’s Aviation Department, about the mixed-use plan. Called Project Alpha, it would involve air cargo and distribution as well as aviation. Pollard says it would generate jobs and capital.

A press release from the city says the project is part of the a five-year plan to grow the airport’s annual economic impact from $599-million to $1-billion.

Some passengers have missed their flights and others have reported hours-long waits to get through security at the Tallahassee airport. While wait-times are expected to improve, Director of Aviation, David Pollard, recommends passengers plan to arrive at the airport early.
