Capital Report: March 28, 2023

Members of the public gave more than five hours of testimony Tuesday on a bill that bans most abortions after six weeks. Regan McCarthy reports the full Senate is scheduled to take the measure up Thursday.

Only 20 counties in Florida have the ability to remove local elected officials. Lawmakers are considering a proposal that would give that power to all 67 counties. As Valerie Crowder reports, it’s something that a grassroots movement that started in the Panhandle has been pushing for since 20-20.

Florida Democratic lawmakers are calling on Governor Ron DeSantis to take action before more than 1 million Floridians are kicked off Medicaid. WMFE’s health reporter Joe Mario Pederson reports the Continuous Enrollment Medicaid provision ends Saturday.
