The Franklin County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program continues with week two, June 16-22. Both library branches will have fun activities for both kids and adults during this program. The theme, "Adventure Begins At Your Library", features the outdoors. There will be reading logs, prizes and incentives for all ages (including adults). Library programs are free and open to the public and participants do not need a library card to participate.

The Crooked River Lighthouse will be hosting a Full Moon Lighthouse Event on Friday, June 21, from 8:00-10:00 pm in Carrabelle, FL with live music from Kevin Andrew and the Rockulla Performers. Visitors can enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the rising Strawberry Moon and evening sky.

Attendees are in for a treat as the exceptionally talented musicians, Kevin Andrew and the Rockulla Performers, take center stage. The Rockulla Performers are made up of a variety of young talent that will be playing guitar and ukulele as well as singing an assortment of songs including some classic country tunes, timeless oldies, and more.

Visitors can enjoy an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and see the exhibit of the lighthouse’s original, historic Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. Guests can browse the unique nautical gifts and souvenirs in the gift shop. Visitors will also enjoy the glowing bonfire in the park. Bring a chair and enjoy the evening.

For those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast, evening tower climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals throughout the event. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay. Evening climbs cost $10 and climb reservations are encouraged due to limited availability. Climbers must be at least 44 inches tall and children under 12 (FREE) with ticketed adults. Advance tickets are strongly suggested as slots may sell out and can be purchased online at https://www.crookedriverlighthouse.com/full-moon-events/ or in the lighthouse gift shop.

This special program will be held on Monday, July 8, at two convenient times and locations: 2:00 pm at the Carrabelle Branch Library (and 11:00 am at the Eastpoint Branch Library). The Eastpoint Branch is located at 160 Hickory Dip Rd, and the Carrabelle Branch at 311 St. James Avenue (Hwy 98). Library programs are free and open to the public and participants do not need a library card to participate. All ages are welcome.

Mr. Richard will bring his original, wacky songs to life with a special performance just for kids. Mr. Richard, playing guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and harmonica, will entertain with lively, kid-centric tunes about topics like the five-second rule, the garbage man and his truck, and enduring long adult conversations. These lively songs ensure lots of audience participation, with plenty of opportunities to sing, clap, and dance along from the very first tune. The program promises to liven up the day for all who attend.

Richard Peeples plays whimsical, silly tunes for children and their families. He worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and also spent two summers as a ranger for the National Park Service in Colorado. For five years, Richard was a storyteller for the Orange County Florida Library. He brings all this experience to his library programs.

Zoofari Earth features six different exotic animal ambassadors from six different continents! Guests will have the opportunity to get up close and personal and even get “hands-on” with animals from all over the world during this exciting program. Each Animal Tales program is unique because the animals, unlike the presenters, don’t have a script! Animal Tales delivers safe, educational, and entertaining experiences for all ages.
