The construction of the Florida Holocaust Memorial is one step closer to becoming reality. That's among 20 bills Governor Rick Scott signed into law Wednesday.

There are five Holocaust memorials and museums across the state. The Florida Legislature just sent a bill to the Governor for approval to add another memorial in the Capitol city.

Tallahassee's Temple Israel was the scene of a Holocaust remembrance ceremony on Sunday, April 19. The featured speaker for the occasion was Mary Wygodsky, who survived a Nazi death camp while the rest of her family perished.

A Tallahassee middle school student’s history project will soon be available for study by scholars from all over the world as it joins the archives of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

“I had to do a history fair project for sixth grade because it was  required and we had to pick a time in history that was a turning point  that made something change in history," said Amoreena Tillman a student at Cobb Middle School.

Legislators are considering a bill that would require rail road companies presenting bids to the state to declare any involvement with transporting people to Nazi death camps during World War II. The bill passed unanimously through its first committee, but Regan McCarthy reports some lawmakers worry about the precedent it could set.
