Showcase

Fridays, 3 pm ET - 4 pm ET
  • Hosted by Dan MacDonald

Every Friday at 3 pm ET WFSQ-FM airs a special, one-hour showcase of selected classical music favorites. The works are especially chosen to compliment 91.5 WFSQ-FM's regular programming schedule. Listeners will be able to enjoy masterworks of greater duration by composers such as Mahler and Bruckner, as well as frequently requested classics such as Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and the Great C Major Symphony by Franz Schubert. Showcase may feature live interviews with local personalities involved in area arts activities.

The locally-produced show is hosted by Dan MacDonald, who welcomes requests and inquiries at (850) 487-3086 ext. 402 or by e-mail - culturalnotes@wfsu.org.

Dan MacDonald is your conductor in a journey across the globe into a dream play of William Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night's Dream. A Magic Journey: Into the Underworld of Shakespeare will feature Dr James Amend, an ethnomusicologist trained at Florida State University. Afterward, MacDonald invites The Southern Shakespeare Festival's music director Steven Hodges to discuss the show's modern music approach.
