Perspectives: Elder Abuse

The incidence of seasoned citizens being neglected, isolated, scammed, intimidated or physically abused is shocking, particularly in Florida, which has such a high number of retirees.  To talk about these cases and what’s being done to resolve and prevent them are: Laura Copeland, elder abuse prevention coordinator for planning and service area 2 with the Area Agency on Aging for North Florida, Inc.; Wendy Fletcher-Altman, senior human services specialist with Adult Protective Services, Florida Department of Children and Families; Mike Milliken, Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program; and Tallahassee Elder Law Attorney Twyla Sketchley.
