Head football coach Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles are gearing up for spring training camp.
The Noles finished last season 2-10. At Monday's annual pre-spring press conference, Norvell said his team will be starting spring practice this week to prepare for the Fall.
“The word accountability has been big," Norvell said. "As we get ready to jump into spring practice, it’s going to be something we continue to emphasize.”
FSU's 15-day training camp starts on Wednesday, March 19, with practices being closed to the media. Below is a statement from Norvell on the decision.
"I appreciate and respect the media's role in telling the stories of the people in our program and keeping our fans informed," said Norvell. "In a day and age where so many people have access to our players, I want to create an atmosphere free of outside perspectives during our time of preparation and development."
"The availability of our program in terms of post-practice media opportunities and individual requests for players, coaches and staff members will remain the same."
FSU will not be playing a scrimmage game this year. The Noles' season opener will be played on Aug. 30 in a newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium against Alabama, followed by a Sept. 6 matchup vs East Texas A&M.
