In a season of many more lows than highs, Mike Norvell and his Florida State Seminoles have had very little to celebrate. But in front of a homecoming crowd of 43,711, the Noles produced their best offensive output of the year – by far – beating the Charleston Southern Bucs 41-7.
Luke Kromenhoek started the first game of his career at quarterback. After a slow start, the freshman quarterback and the offense found their rhythm in the second quarter, scoring three times to take a 17-0 lead into halftime. Kromenhoek ended the game with 209 passing yards, 31 rushing yards, and three touchdown passes. The 415 total yards and 41 points scored were the largest offensive output this season by far.
The second half began with a quick FSU score on its first play from scrimmage. Kromenhoek connected with receiver Ja’Khi Douglas for a 71-yard touchdown. With 24 points scored in the second half, the Noles ensured victory long before a late-game touchdown by Charleston Southern. In addition to the three touchdown passes thrown by Kromenhoek, redshirt senior running back Caziah Holmes rushed for two scores.
The 2-9 Noles host the resurgent Florida Gators on Saturday night, November 30th. The Gators will come into Doak Campbell Stadium with a 6-5 record and riding high after two upset victories over LSU and Ole Miss.
