Florida State University is welcoming Sara Tisdale as the first women's lacrosse head coach.

Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford officially introduced Tisdale on Tuesday during a press conference at the Dunlap Champions Club.

"This is an exciting time for Florida State athletics as we welcome Sara Tisdale to lead the launch of our intercollegiate women's lacrosse team," Alford said. "She brings a wealth of experience in establishing programs and has experienced early and sustained success everywhere she's been."

Tisdale, who coached the first lacrosse games at Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Augustana, comes to Tallahassee to establish FSU's lacrosse program after two seasons at Eastern Michigan.

"Florida State and Seminole Nation, we already have a rich tradition of excellence," said Tisdale. "I'm excited to work towards it with everyone in this room and thrive towards winning those championships and putting Florida State on the national stage for women's lacrosse."

Fans will have to wait until the spring of 2026 to see the new coach and her team in action.
