Florida A&M University (FAMU) President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., on Friday announced that he will step down as president.
In a letter to the FAMU's Board of Trustees Chair Kristin Harper, Robinson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the university.
"I am honored to have served with fellow trustees alongside our president," said Harper. "His love for FAMU, steady leadership, and unwavering dedication to our students’ success will leave an indelible mark on this university’s history."
The exact date of his departure will be determined in consultation with the Board of Trustees.
Robinson plans to return to his role as a professor in the FAMU School of the Environment, a position he held prior to accepting the role as the 12th President of Florida A&M University in November of 2017.
“With tremendous gratitude for the privilege of leading our beloved Florida A&M University as Interim President in 2016 and President beginning in 2017, and with much optimism for its future, I am writing to inform you of my decision to step down from my position,” Robinson said in his resignation letter.
“I will entrust the determination of the precise date to the Board’s preferences while fulfilling any obligations of my existing contract.”
