One person was killed, four others, including one juvenile, were injured in a 2022 shooting.

A Tallahassee man accused of carrying out a deadly mass shooting in 2022, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

A Leon County Judge handed down 23-year-old Chedderick Thomas’s sentence on Monday.

In a trial that lasted just two days, jurors found Thomas guilty of opening fire on a group of young men at an outdoor basketball court on Florida A&M University’s campus.

The shooting happened in November 2022. Five people were injured, and one person died—20-year-old Travis Huntley.

Assistant State Attorney, Sarah Dugan described Thomas’ actions as horrific.

“His actions took the life of Travis Huntley who has so many people who love him,” Dugan said.

Thomas was sentenced to life without parole for first-degree murder based on the discharge of a firearm and life with a 20-year minimum mandatory sentence for attempted first-degree murder.
