The inaugural JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale lands in Tallahassee.

The inaugural JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale to Tallahassee landed just after 9:30 Thursday morning.

Passengers applauded as they walked into the airport’s main terminal to a public reception. They were greeted by a band, cake, and plenty of food.

Mayor John Dailey was on the flight. He and other local leaders have been working for years to bring the low cost carrier to town.

For now, JetBlue’s only offering in Tallahassee is daily, nonstop service to and from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Passengers on the first JetBlue flight were treated to a reception in the main terminal of the Tallahassee International Airport.
