The Fall Seed Library kickoff happens this Saturday from 10 till noon at the Leon County Main Library. More than 120-thousand seeds are available for free.
The kickoff event at the downtown branch includes information about sustainable gardening practices and an Ask-a-Master-Gardener booth.
Ten seed varieties will be available at all Leon County Public Library locations starting Saturday morning.
Residents can get up to five seed packets per month using their library card or three packets per month without a library card, while supplies last.
Earlier this year, Leon County distributed its one millionth seed since the program started in 2015.

Join Leon County Government on Saturday, August 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the Fall Seed Library kickoff at the downtown Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue.
The Leon County Fall Seed Library Program has more than 120,000 seeds available for residents. Earlier this year, Leon County distributed its one millionth seed to the community since the program was established in 2015.
In partnership with the UF/IFAS Leon County Extension, the kickoff event will offer fun for all ages, including hands-on seeding activities, information about vegetable gardening techniques and sustainable gardening practices, and an Ask-a-Master-Gardener booth.
Staff from the Leon County Office of Sustainability and UF/IFAS Leon County Extension will also be available to answer questions and address all your gardening needs.
The ten seed varieties offered through the Fall Seed Library will be available at all Leon County Public Library locations starting Saturday, August 19, at 10 a.m.
Citizens can check out up to five seed packets per month using their library card, or three packets per month without a library card, while supplies last.

- Calabrese Italian Broccoli
- Dark Green Italian Parsley
- Detroit Dark Red Beet
- Dragon Purple Carrots
- Flashy Trout Back Romaine Lettuce
- Georgia Southern or Creole Collards
- Misato Rose Fall Radish
- Slow Bolt Cilantro
- Suzhou Baby Bok Choy
Since 2015, the Leon County Seed Library Program has offered seasonal seed varieties each fall and spring to residents at the Leon County Public Library. The program encourages residents to practice sustainable gardening and grow their own healthy and nutritious foods at home.
