The Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) based at Florida A&M University is getting a $3 million grant from the Minority Business Development Agency. FSBDC at FAMU is one of 43 non-profit and community-based organizations, to be selected for the grant.
The money will jump start the Florida Panhandle Capital Readiness Collaborative (FPCRC); a partnership made up of several non-profits across the region to help minority-owned businesses thrive.
"FAMU welcomes the opportunity to help empower entrepreneurs and stimulate economic initiatives among underserved communities in North Florida,” said FAMU President, Larry Robinson, Ph.D. in a statement.
Services will include one-on-one coaching, bootcamps, and business development courses in 12 counties including Gadsden, Jefferson, and Wakulla.
“This initiative is consistent with our goal to drive innovation on campus, and economic development in local communities and across the state,” said Robinson.
