The All-American teamed up with local sponsors and city leaders to help raise thousands of dollars for the construction of both homes.

Christmas came early for two Tallahassee single parents who received brand new homes on Tuesday from former FSU and NFL football star Warrick Dunn.

The moment William Young and Luann Winter entered their new home, excitement filled the room. Young loves to cook so he found work as a chef to take care of his two children in a small apartment. He says becoming a homeowner has been a life-long dream.

"I just want to say thank you to all y’all," said Young. "Y’all have been like family to me, and I pray to see y’all around I promise I will cook up some great meals for you all. Because you all have given me a blessing."

More than $10,000 worth of furnishing and electronic accessories were included in the giveaway, and each recipient was also awarded a $5,000 advancement from Warrick Dunn Charities, to help cover their down-payment.

Dozens of relatives and friends witnessed the families taking their first step into homeownership.

As for Winter and her family, she says this event gave her a chance to connect with the community and gain new family members.

"I couldn’t do it without you all here. To my habitat [Big Bend Habitat] family, thank you so much. You all have given me the tools and confidence to make this happen," said Winter. "My city family, incredible support of all this sweat you all gave to this house and laughter. It is all here within these walls and its memories. I really appreciate that."

These are the 213th and 214th homes gifted nationwide by Dunn’s group, something he says is motivation to continue uplifting single parents.
