Tallahassee's newest coffee and wine bar is literally a stone's throw from the Capitol and City Hall. The just-opened La Florida is located on the plaza level of the Tallahassee Community College Center for Innovation.
La Florida owner Jean Uthmeier agrees with the old business saying, "location is everything."
"I think that Kleman Park and Plaza is the jewel of downtown with its beautiful green space, fountains that remind me of Retiro Park in Madrid. People need to stretch their legs and get out; fresh oxygen especially in this mask-heavy time."
Thousands of local and state government people work within a few blocks of the bar. Uthmeier hopes they and others will become steady La Florida visitors.
"Tallahassee has a lot of visitors and a lot of locals who live downtown. And we see all of them come to this space to build relationships. It's something very beautiful and I hope that continues to happen."
The bistro features coffee, wine and a growing assortment of light cuisine.
