VeoRide Only E-Scooter Company Left On Streets, Others Temporarily Paused Service Due To COVID-19

Five black e-scooters are lined on the sidewalk. The back wheel of each scooter touches the grass and the front wheel faces the road. Teal words spell "VeoRide" on the scooter's stem. Tallahassee buildings are in the distance.

Two of the three e-scooter rental companies in Tallahassee have paused service due to COVID-19. Now, VeoRide is the only one still on the streets.

VeoRide, now rebranded to 'Veo,' is disinfecting its scooters daily to prevent the spread of COVID-19. One scooter can be disinfected up to three times a day, depending on whether its battery needs to be swapped or if it needs to be relocated.

"We are disinfecting all the touchable surfaces," says Southeast Regional Manager, Andrew Miles.

The company's staff now wear protective masks and gloves when working.

"We have... additional procedures... of disinfecting all of our work surfaces and our warehouse itself as well as our company vehicles. So we are trying to keep as much of a clean, sterile environment as humanly possible throughout all this."

Miles says before COVID-19,  his company wasn't disinfecting its scooters daily. When the vehicles were cleaned, he says, it was with soap and water to get the dirt off.

Veo is hoping to stay in Tallahassee long term. The company plans to apply to be a permanent vendor for the city.
