Tallahassee E-Scooter Pilot Could Be Extended While Commissioners Mull Making Program Permanent

Five black e-scooters are lined on the sidewalk. The back wheel of each scooter touches the grass and the front wheel faces the road. Teal words spell "VeoRide" on the scooter's stem. Tallahassee buildings are in the distance.

Tallahassee’s city commission is expected to extend its e-scooter pilot program during its meeting Wednesday.

Julie Christensen is with the Tallahassee and Leon County Planning Department. Right now, three vendors rent scooters as part of the pilot program.

“So this extension is to make sure that there’s no break in service between the original end date of the pilot program and such time as we procure permanent vendors,” Chistensen said.

The three e-scooter vendors currently in the city are Spin, VeoRide, and Wheels. If the pilot is extended, these vendors will continue to operate until the city makes a final decision.
