Second Harvest of the Big Bend was hosting another free food distribution on Wednesday, April 1. This one, at Tallahassee Community College, was the second such event in less than a week and it seems many more are yet to come.
Among the volunteers handing out the non-perishable staples and fresh produce was TCC Associate Dean for Academic Partnerships and College Success Marcus Nicholas.
"We love hosting a platform to not only feed our students but to feed the community as well!" he exclaimed.
There was enough food for 1,500 families. But Second Harvest CEO Monique Ellsworth warned that won't begin to meet the need that's coming.
"We will see a 60 percent increase, people who have never before been food insecure will be food insecure in Leon County."
And Leon is just one of 11 counties Second Harvest is serving.
