There was a double celebration the evening of Thursday, Oct. 17 at Second Harvest of the Big Bend's Tallahassee headquarters. The organization welcomed a new leader and took over ownership of its warehouse facility.
The new Second Harvest CEO is Monique Ellsworth. She had been the head of CESC, which among other facilities serving the homeless includes the Kearney Center.
“I’ve had lots of opportunities with the experiences that I’ve had that I think have prepared me well for a successful transition here at Second Harvest of the Big Bend and I’m really looking forward to it!” she exclaimed.
Among those at the reception honoring Ellsworth and Second Harvest's securing title to its facility near the airport, State Representative Lorrane Ausley.
“Three of the highest food-insecurity counties (in Florida) are in the Second Harvest service area,” Ausley remarked. “That makes it so important that we as a community support the efforts of Second Harvest and the work they do across the region.”
Ellsworth succeeds Rick Minor who left Second Harvest last month. Also during the reception at the Entrepot Boulevard headquarters building near Tallahassee International Airport, the organization officially took over ownership of what had been its leased facility.
