The central pond at Innovation Park is now ringed by Leon County's newest hiking and biking trail. The trail's ribbon-cutting happened on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Light drizzle was falling as Dave Ramsey, immediate past chair of the county's Research and Development Authority presided over the grand opening.
"It's six-tenths of a mile long, it's beautiful and refreshing and it's here for you to use and enjoy," he told the small crowd, many of whom came from nearby Innovation Park tenant buildings.
Leon County Commission Chair Bryan Desloge, a well-known fitness buff, applauded the latest addition to the local trail network.
"We've got a network of trails here that are underappreciated," he noted. "We've got 700 miles of trails here. The mountain bikers in the area understand; it's world class!"
The trail wraps around the small lake that sits just to the north of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
