As we come upon the 18th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, many young adults don’t know much about the attacks or how the culture in America changed afterward.

Tallahassee native Christina Ray Stanton has been a resident of New York City for more than 25 years. She recently published a book about her experience on 9/11 and how it transformed her life.

All proceeds from "Out of the Shadow of 9/11: An Inspiring Tale of Escape and Transformation" go to Stanton's charity, Loving All Nations. She’ll read from the book at 6pm on 9/11 at Tallahassee’s Midtown Reader.

Her book details how she escaped Lower Manhattan – in bare feet and pajamas - with her husband and dog. Their apartment was just 6 blocks from the World Trade Center.

She also writes about the healing she found in Tallahassee. She'll share her memories from that terrible day with nearly a dozen schools in Tallahassee and Monticello this week. You'll find a gallery of photos related to 9/11 on her website.
