During its Oct. 28 meeting, the Tallahassee City Commission voted to delay adopting an anti-noise ordinance pending more input from city residents. Now that input process is underway.
Members of the Council of Neighborhood Associations or CONA met with local business people Monday night (11/2) at the downtown library. CONA President Leroy Peck said a "one-size-fits-all" ordinance won't meet the needs of either residents or businesses.
“There has to be two standards,” he said afterward, referring to the different situations of the city’s entertainment districts and purely residential areas. “You can’t retreat to your individual positions and point fingers. There has got to be some compromise.”
So now Peck said a combined resident/business task force will start meeting to hammer out those compromises.
“They will have their discussions and will then come back here (to the CONA membership main body) on the 16th of November and present those recommendations and then be forwarded to the city.”
That date will be December first with a final commission vote set for later in the month.
