FSU Provost Stokes Interviews For Job At University of Missouri

fsu.edu

Florida State University Provost Garnett Stokes is a finalist for the same job at the University of Missouri. The school is expected to name a new provost within a few weeks.

FSU Provost Garnett Stokes was among 11 candidates who interviewed for the FSU Presidency in September but she wasn’t a finalist for the job. Instead, it went to State Senator John Thrasher, who started this week. Stokes served as interim president during the transition and said she’d continue at FSU as provost under Thrasher’s leadership, last month.

“I have said to everyone I love Florida State. I think this is a great place. It would take an incredible, incredible opportunity to get me to consider leaving," she said at the time.

According to the Columbia Daily Tribune newspaper, Stokes interviewed for the provost position at the University of Missouri Monday. The school’s next provost is expected to start in the Spring.
