FSU's Stokes: Decision To Stay On As Provost Due To 'Unfinished Business'

fsu.edu

Florida State University interim president Garnett Stokes says her decision to return to her provost job when President-elect John Thrasher takes over is due to what she calls “unfinished business”.

“I came here because I had things I wanted to accomplish. And I can do that from the role of president or from the role of provost. So, from my perspective, I really want to make sure Florida State is successful. I'm committed to that," Stokes says.

Stokes says she’s pushing to help Florida State become one of the Top 25 universities in the nation. FSU experienced a setback when it slid a few spots in national rankings earlier this year. The school has also gone public with it’s billion dollar campaign, started under former President Eric Barron, who left to head Penn State University. FSU is more than 60 percent to its goal.
