After the Democratic Candidate for North Florida’s Second Congressional district dropped out of the race last week, a new candidate is stepping in to fill her place.
Yen Bailey, a Tallahassee lawyer, appeared at the Florida Press Association headquarters in Tallahassee. She hoped her campaign can surf the wave of excitement
generated by the Party's presidential hopeful, Kamela Harris.
"We're just building on that momentum and then I think everything good that happens for any Democrat on the ticket, up or down the ballot, is good for all the Democrats."
Bailey was born in Destin to Vietnamese parents. She steps into the race after Tallahassee Democratic candidate Meghann Hovey dropped out last week.
But Bailey faces an uphill battle. Panama City Republican Neal Dunn won the seat with 60% of the vote against well-known Democrat Al Lawson in 2022.
