After Jeers At Fla. Delegate Breakfast, Debbie Wasserman Schultz Doesn't Open DNC

MGN Online

After getting booed at a Florida delegates breakfast Monday, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz didn’t open the Democratic National Convention as previously planned. It’s the latest after the head of the Democratic National Committee announced she’d resign from her position.

On Sunday, Wasserman Schultz stated she’ll resign her position as party chair at the end of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. That’s after leaked e-mails indicated she and other DNC officials favored Hillary Clinton over Senator Bernie Sanders in the presidential primary. And, when Wasserman Schultz later spoke at the Florida delegates breakfast Monday, she tried to fend off boos and jeers from the crowd.

“It is so wonderful to be able here with my home state,” she said, as the crowd booed and jeered. “Alright, everybody now. Settle down. Everybody, settle down please...”

Wasserman Schultz was also slated to open and close the convention, but on Monday, she decided against gaveling in the convention to allow the DNC to start on a “high note,” as first reported by the Sun-Sentinel. But, she promised she’ll make sure to be on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton.
