Leon County staff and community volunteers spent the morning of Thursday, Aug. 21 sprucing up a Northwest Tallahassee neighborhood. It was the 14th Day of Service in commemoration of the 9/11 attacks.
Leon County Housing Services Manager Julani Marks thanked the 74 volunteers for their contribution to the project.
"The work completed by county staff and volunteers this morning will have a lasting impact on the residents of the Appaloosa Run neighborhood."

Among those county staffers was Scott Weisman.
"It's a lot of fun giving back. And just looking at the final product is always great! Seeing all the hard work that people put in from mowing and trimming and cleaning up, painting and pressure washing, it feels good."
Weisman has a direct connection to the tragedy. He lost relatives when New York's Twin Towers fell on that tragic day.
