Enterprise Board Begins Restructuring Talks

Florida gets $12 billion in stimulus money.
Florida gets $12 billion in stimulus money.

Enterprise Florida board members are holding a multi-day meeting this week. It’s the first full meeting of the board since Governor Rick Scott asked former Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins to help identity $600 million in savings.

Enterprise Florida received no new funding from the legislature this year for economic incentive programs. Gov. Rick Scott has said that means it’s time for the agency to transition to depend on more private funding. And some have suggested it could mean a significant restructuring. During a short discussion Tuesday, Louis Laubscher, a member of the leadership team talked about what that would mean for employees.

“If there’s a restructuring activity and it’s necessary to separate any employees, we will follow our general policy that we have in the past,” Laubsher says.

Laubscher says that plan includes at least two weeks severance pay as well as an additional week for each year an employee worked at the agency and pay out for vacation days.
