Leon County hosted its every-other-year sustainability summit on Saturday, May 30. County Sustainability Manager Kate Levett says the theme was "weaving paths to sustainable living."
"While there were absolutely opportunities for education today, this one is really focused on connecting with each other. And we're excited to be launching a new program called 'Sustainability Ambassadors,' which will even further enhance our community's ability to keep connecting."
Levett says the ambassadors will be the sustainability subject matter experts in their neighborhoods.
"You could almost compare them to a master gardener. You know you can always go to your master gardener and feel like they're giving you good information. So sustainability ambassadors will be equipped with lots of information but also we'll be having conversations about the best way to share that information with your neighbors and community."
This year's Sustainability Summit was held outdoors - under a tent to avoid the scattered showers - on the grounds of the county's Eastside Library.
