The Florida Supreme Court put another death row execution on hold Wednesday.
State officials were planning to execute Mark Asay on March 17, but the court order blocks that indefinitely. Asay was convicted of a double murder and sentenced to die in 1988. The U.S. Supreme Court invalidated Florida’s capital sentencing scheme early this year, putting the state’s 389 death row inmates in limbo. In February, Florida's highest court put the execution of Corey Lambrix on hold as well. Lawmakers have yet to finalize a new plan.
