Fresh Picked Prose: Whitney Gilchrist “The Canoe"

Whitney Gilchrist grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from Millsaps College, she worked both as a bookseller and as a high school teacher with Mississippi Teacher Corps, during which time she earned a master's degree in teaching. She completed an MFA in creative writing at Florida State University in 2019 and is working on a novel set in Brooklyn, Jackson, and the Mississippi gulf coast.
