A six-week abortion ban is poised to pass in Florida’s Senate. It comes as a 15-week ban is facing a challenge before the state’s supreme court. Earlier this year, Senate President Kathleen Passidomo told reporters she saw no point in advancing a new abortion bill before the first one cleared its challenge. Yet as Regan McCarthy reports the chamber is just days away from passing one. Why? Bill Sponsor Erin Grall says it’s because they can.

On July 1st every school-aged child in the state will become eligible for an education savings account or private school tuition stipend. Governor Ron DeSantis signed off on a massive expansion of school choice Monday that lifts eligibility caps on the program. Lynn Hatter has that.
