Capital Report: 10-24-2014

Governor Rick Scott and Democratic Challenger Charlie Crist are neck-in-neck in the polls. The race is so tight some are suggesting Libertarian Adrian Wyllie could be the deciding factor in who gets the Governor’s Mansion.  We get that story from Lynn Hatter.

Perhaps the most common refrain in the Florida governor’s race has been jobs – how many current governor Rick Scott has created and how many former governor Charlie Crist lost.  But despite painting himself as a job creator, Nick Evans reports Governor Scott has presided over ten straight months of stagnant unemployment numbers.

A recent Quinnipiac poll suggests by a slim margin, Florida women favor Democrat challenger Charlie Crist over Republican Governor Rick Scott. And, in the first part of a two-part series, Sascha Cordner delves into what top GOP women actually think of their gubernatorial candidate: Rick Scott.

From the start of his term, Florida Governor Rick Scott has highlighted the importance of Government accountability and transparency. But Regan McCarthy reports, some say the governor has been clouding attempts at open government for just as long.

Environmentalists are attacking Governor Rick Scott’s inaction on climate change at the same time a liberal-leaning superPAC is running climate-based ads against the Republican incumbent.  But as Jessica Palombo reports, progressive groups don’t have a monopoly on environmental issues.  A conservative organization taking root in Florida aims to promote green issues while keeping the executive branch politically red.
