Florida’s Republican Governor Rick Scott and his Democratic Challenger, Charlie Crist, are sparring over their education records. Lynn Hatter reports when it comes to how both the current and former governors have handled education policies, there’s more fiction than truth behind the narratives.

Florida wildlife officials are investigating a Northwest Florida festival after an animal rights group complained. As Jessica Palombo reports, the decades-old Wausau [WAUSAU] Possum Festival has been a longtime favorite campaign stop for politicians.

Documents from the GOP consulting group Data Targeting, Inc. played a pivotal role in a Tallahassee Judge’s recent ruling finding Florida’s congressional district maps unconstitutional. But during the trial the contents of those documents were kept sealed from public view. Now Regan McCarthy reports members of the media and a group of voting rights activists are pushing to get the documents out into the sunshine.

Over the past week, the four candidates shortlisted to be Florida State University’s next president have met with staff, students and faculty in public forums.  Nick Evans reports now it’s up to the presidential search committee and university trustees to pick a winner.  The trustees have set a tentative deadline of Tuesday.

Ahead of any general election, it can be easy for voters to get confused. And, as Sascha Cordner reports, at least one area of Florida is reporting confusion over the 2nd Amendment, the right to bear arms, to a medical marijuana initiative known as Amendment 2 set to appear on the November ballot.
