Join the Florida Division of Arts and Culture and the Division of Historical Resources for our third annual Black History Arts and Culture Festival on February 9, 2024 from 5:30PM to 9:00PM at the Heritage Hall Auditorium in the R.A. Gray Building!

Live performances from Avis Berry and Revival, Ayoka Afrikan Drum and Dance, and the Omega Lamplighters' The Mighty Light Step Team. This community festival celebrates the achievements of Black Floridians and will showcase the rich tapestry of Black Arts and Artists in Florida. Bring your family and friends to enjoy music, vendors, food, community partners, and more.

This event is FREE and open to the public. R.A. Gray Building is at 500 S. Bronough St, Tallahassee, FL. Heritage Hall Auditorium is on the first floor.

Free parking can be found in Garage E, the parking garage adjacent to the R.A. Gray Building. There are also metered spaces on Martin Luth King Boulevard to the rear of the building, and additional parking is available at Kleman Plaza (Bronough/Duval Street) and the Civic Center (Pensacola Street).

Cirque Italia’s Gold Unit performers can’t wait to take you back to a time when hula hoops and soda fountains were abundant, Elvis Presley dominated the airwaves, greased hair was all the rage, and street racing was a parent’s greatest concern! Come along for the ride when a 1950s-obsessed adolescent falls asleep and dreams of living in this revolutionary era. This high-octane show is guaranteed to captivate and engage every kiddo and Daddy-O in the audience.
Cirque Italia believes multi-culturalism is one of our strongest assets. Our show features performers from Argentina, Brazil, Romania, and many other countries. Of course, these incredible artists are preparing to wow you with their astounding acts. Master jugglers, low wire fanatics, dazzling contortion, wild trampoline antics, and even a wheel of death! With nearly 11,000 objects in the collection, the Tallahassee Museum has a rich gathering of objects and artifacts from across history. Come explore the museum’s collections storage with Dr. Colin Brady as he leads a hands-on chat behind the scenes.

First, enjoy a cocktail hour of light hors d’oeuvres while the Education Manager gives an animal encounter on courtship and reproduction. Then experience the naughty night prowl – an entertaining night walk down our Florida Wildlife Trail while discussing the wild side of our native animals.

Join Judith Strinklin as she teachers you how to make fresh homemade biscuits from scratch in the 1880s farmhouse kitchen. This is a great, easy traditional breakfast to learn how to make and then pass down to your grandkids. Ms. Judith will also speak about her time growing up on a farm with no electricity.

This year’s free event will give attendees the opportunity to learn from our experts about all things pregnancy and child development as well as get to know local vendors who offer a range of products and services for mothers, families and children.
