Blending North Florida ecology with groove-driven jazz, folk, and soul, this Tallahassee-based ensemble draws inspiration from winding spring systems, cicada choirs, roadside wetlands, and the layered musical traditions of the American South. Influenced by the playful phrasing of Ella Fitzgerald and Anita O’Day, alongside the modern songwriting sensibilities of Lake Street Dive, the group combines theatrical storytelling with deep rhythmic interplay.

The ensemble features upright and electric bass, Rhodes-inspired keyboards, layered percussion, drums informed by samba, neo-soul, and D’Angelo-influenced pocket grooves, alongside expressive guitar and vocal textures. Their sound moves fluidly between intimate jazz club energy, porch-song warmth, and improvisatory exploration.

With songs inspired by Florida landscapes and Southern biodiversity, the group aims to create performances that feel both grounded and transportive — equal parts listening-room concert, jam session, and ecological storytelling experience.

🌷 Want to create floral-inspired postcards and bookmarks?

Continuing our series of workshops inspired by the Tallahassee Watercolor Society's “2026 Tri-State Annual Juried Water Media Exhibition,” join us for Make it with MoFA: Postcards and Bookmarks! The workshop will take place from 5:30 to 7:00pm on July 2.

After a brief tour of the exhibition, we will use watercolors to create postcards and bookmarks that you can keep. Bring your own inspiration or get inspired by the beautiful pieces on view. Pre-registration through the Eventbrite is encouraged but not required. All materials will be provided, and free parking will be available in the Call St Garage.

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour including heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Next, we will listen to Voices: A Folk Opera in its entirety. It's a celebration of the release of one of the most ambitious musical projects to ever come out of Tallahassee. Bring tissues...

Voices: A Folk Opera 3LP Triple Album Tri-fold Vinyl will be available for only $50 for this one night! It is a true musical, visual, and conceptual work of art.

Bartholomew Delcamp, Chief Curator at the Museum of Florida History, will discuss the fascinating role of played by pirates in Florida history between 1560 and 1750. At the height of pirate activity in the early 1700s, an estimated 5,000 pirates sailed the waters off Florida's coasts. This talk will explore the stores of some of the most famous among them such as Henry Jennings, Sir Francis Drake, and Samuel Bellamy. The program is free and open to the public.

Guided reading will be held at 11:00 AM

Join us at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum as we look back at the special relationship between France and the early American Republic by honoring Bastille Day – the start of the French Revolution in 1789. Follow along our historic hallways to read Revolutionary Friends: General George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette by Selene Castrovilla and enjoy free craft activities, a special portrait interactive area, and snacks. This StoryWalk® program is part of the Florida Historic Capitol Museum’s George Washington Experience commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

The StoryWalk® is recommended for early readers and young history enthusiasts aged 5 – 12, but the illustrations and program activities can be enjoyed by all.

As they race to switch back before a major wedding day disaster, the two gain new empathy, understanding, and appreciation for one another in this fast-paced story filled with humor, heart, and catchy music.

Performed by the talented teen cast of Making Light Productions, Freaky Friday One Act Edition is a fun and relatable musical experience for audiences of all ages.
