History at High Noon- Rogues & Raiders: Famous Pirates in Florida History
Bartholomew Delcamp, Chief Curator at the Museum of Florida History, will discuss the fascinating role of played by pirates in Florida history between 1560 and 1750. At the height of pirate activity in the early 1700s, an estimated 5,000 pirates sailed the waters off Florida's coasts. This talk will explore the stores of some of the most famous among them such as Henry Jennings, Sir Francis Drake, and Samuel Bellamy. The program is free and open to the public.
