Pebble Hill Plantation is pleased to be the site of the 7th Annual Clay Road Classic. Cyclists from around the region will converge on Pebble Hill on Saturday, February 8th, for a day of biking, live music, food trucks, retail expo, wine and beer garden, and more! 25 and 50 mile rides through pristine forests of the Red Hills Region. Kick off 2025 with Capital Health Plan's Walk with a Doc!

Enjoy a morning of activity and health education as Dr. Cain discusses weight loss while leading a refreshing walk at Cascades Park. Camellia Exhibition – Wiregrass Camellia Society members will bring camellia blooms to share and help with plant identification. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring their own blooms so presenters can help with plant identification – AND – so they can be entered to win the “People’s Choice Award.” All workshop participants will have the chance to vote for the “People’s Choice Award” and other award placings for the Camellia Exhibition entries.

Artist and instructor Jessica Dell will lead two oil pastel workshops--the morning session is for 3rd-6th graders and the afternoon session is for 7th-12th grades. Each student will learn the natural history of this bird and what makes it special to Pebble Hill and our region. Jessica will then teach the technique of sketching the detailed characteristics of the bobwhite quail before finishing the piece with pastels.

After the completion of the classes, the students’ artwork will be on exhibit in the Pebble Hill Plantation Learning Center from January 28 – 31, 2025. On January 31, 2025, scanned images of all the youth art class paintings will be entered in the Georgia Youth Birding Competition T-shirt Art Contest sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources where prizes and awards are given to winners in four grade-level divisions. The grand prize artwork will be showcased on the 2025 Georgia Youth Birding Competition T-shirt presented in April. All Quail Pastels Youth Art Classes artwork will be returned to participants.

Hailing from South Georgia, Jessica Dell spent her formative years riding horses and exploring the woods of Thomas County. Now, as an art educator, she is passionate about teaching students to appreciate the artful arrangement of visual elements, composition, and the dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Jessica’s goal is to teach and foster creative, collaborative, and critical thinking, providing students with the tools for self-expression.
