It's been years in the planning and the building, but Tallahassee Memorial Hospital's new quarter-billion dollar M.T. Mustian Center just weeks away from welcoming its first patients.

There was a public preview of the facility on Saturday, April 13. The Center contains 340,000 square feet of space, is 5 stories tall, to which several more floors can someday be added. And TMH Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Stephanie Derzypolski said it will be the hospital's one-stop surgical and ICU shop.

"All of our adult ICUs will be moving over to this new building as well as all of our surgery services," she explained.

Now comes a flurry of activity ahead of an impending deadline.

"May 20 is our official opening day," said Derzypolski. "We'll begin surgeries and start moving patients over on that day."

The center is named after M.T. Mustian, Tallahassee Memorial's director from 1964 until 1989.
