Capital Report: April 10, 2023

Anyone who damages or removes an historical monument or memorial could face a civil lawsuit under legislation moving in both chambers. It follows efforts in recent years to relocate monuments and markers tied to the Confederacy - especially slavery - as Gina Jordan reports.

Thousands of legal Florida gun owners no longer need a state permit to carry their weapons concealed. The new law also removes a requirement that gun owners undergo training. Even though the proposal is now law, it’s still under heavy criticism. WFSU’s Adrian Andrews spoke with a few veterans to get their take on the permitless carry law and prepared this report.

For the third straight year, an effort is underway to expand consumer protections in data privacy in Florida. But as Steve Bousquet reports, businesses say it will cost them money and they are fighting back hard.
